The Albany Newspaper Guild is a local of The Newspaper Guild (TNG), founded in the depths of the Great Depression in 1933 by columnist Heywood Broun. The Guild represents more than 34,000 workers in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. It is affiliated with Communications Workers of America (CWA). The Albany local just celebrated its 75th anniversary, having been founded on March 20, 1934. It currently represents some 240 workers at the Times Union. |
